We are passionate about sharing mental health training with activity organisers across Lincolnshire. On this page you will find a number of training opportunities for professionals or volunteers working in the mental health and/or wellbeing space in Lincolnshire. Please note, different organisations have different criteria and offerings; see the links below for more details.

Training Opportunities

Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity+ (Online Course) – UK Coaching, Mind & 1st4sport

One in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. Enrol on this online course to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to better understand and support people living with mental health problems, and create a positive environment that ensures they enjoy the benefits of being active and keep coming back for more.
The four modules will increase your knowledge and understanding of mental health, providing you with the practical skills and strategies to be able to:

*build people’s resilience, self-esteem and confidence
*adapt your sessions to make them more inclusive
*enable and support mental health recovery, and
*tackle stigma and discrimination.

After completing the course, you will be able to download your certificate of completion.

The course has been awarded 1.5 CPD points by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

Zero Suicide Alliance free online training

Zero Suicide Alliance are an NHS charity hosted by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust dedicated to preventing suicide. ZSA work in collaboration with NHS trusts, non-profit organisations, local authorities, businesses and individuals to raise awareness of suicide and its contributing factors. ZSA aim to break the stigma that surrounds suicide and enable leaders to drive meaningful action to help prevent suicide in the UK and beyond.

ZSA offer FREE online training courses teach you the skills and confidence to have a potentially life-saving conversation with someone you’re worried about. Courses are available here

Lincolnshire Recovery College

Are you finding life challenging or supporting someone who is? Do you want to learn from people with real life experience, alongside education and health professionals? If so, the Lincolnshire Recovery College could be for you.

We offer free educational courses about mental health, recovery and wellbeing. Courses are open to anyone aged 16+ who lives, works or studies in Lincolnshire.

Most of our sessions are held online via Microsoft Teams. We are gradually reintroducing face to face sessions across the county. Keep an eye on our timetable to find out when and where these will be held. Steps such as social distancing are in place to keep everyone safe.

Our courses on mental and physical health are available to all!

The courses Shine offers:
From Mental Health First Aid England – Various courses available from Refresher and Awareness courses to Mental Health Champion and full 2-day Mental Health First Aid.
From National Centre for Suicide Prevention Education and Training (NCSPET) and City & Guilds – SFA Lite 4 half-day and complete full-day SFA Understanding Suicide Intervention.
From Shine Lincolnshire – Consultation and Support for Mental Health First Aiders.
Accredited Physical First Aid Courses through Qualsafe Awards. Various courses covering CPR, using a defibrillator, plus First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid.
Accredited Education and Training Course through Qualsafe Awards. 5-day Level 3 award in Education Aid Training.

Lincolnshire Voluntary Centre Services

Volunteer Management Workshops
The programme is free for voluntary sector groups and charities working in Lincolnshire who are looking to recruit volunteers

It consists of 3 workshops which will be delivered over 5 half day sessions virtually on Zoom and will cover the volunteer journey from preparing your group for volunteers, to recruiting and supporting your volunteers to saying goodbye.

Groups can attend any of the five sessions depending on what stage they are in the volunteer management process.

The programme starts on Wednesday 22nd February, running for 5 consecutive Wednesdays until Wednesday 22nd March 2023.

Lincolnshire Voluntary Centre Services

Funding Ready Training
The programme is free for voluntary sector groups and charities working in Lincolnshire who are looking to begin applying for grants or improve their success rate.

It consists of 3 workshops which will be delivered over 5 half day sessions virtually on Zoom.

Groups can attend any of the five sessions depending on what stage they are in their funding process.

The programme starts on Tuesday 7th February 2023, running for 5 consecutive Tuesdays until Tuesday 7th March 2023.
