Why Archery?
Archery is more than just a sport; it's a pathway to improved mental health and overall wellbeing.
The focus and concentration required helps reduce stress and anxiety, whilst the physical aspect promotes fitness and co-ordination.
Plus, the sense of accomplishment, community and acceptance you'll find with Acorn Archers is unmatched.
Join Our Community
At Acorn Archers, we believe in the power of consideration, community and collaboration.
All individuals are encouraged to help and assist with practice activities and shoots, planning and expressing their ideas, and opinions and encouraging their fellow club members.
Whether you're a complete beginner or an expert bowman, you'll find a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone has something valuable to contribute.
No individual is ever too old to stop learning, or too young to pass on knowledge or offer assistance to others where appropriate.
Indoor Sessions for All Abilities
Every Friday evening, we hold indoor sessions at New York Village Hall, providing the perfect setting for fair-weather archers and those with mobility challenges who fell under the magical spell of the bow.
No matter the weather, you can enjoy the thrill of archery in a comfortable, accessible and safe space.
Experience Archery by the Seaside
We're excited to announce that our newest venue is the Village Hall in Chapel St Leonards, conveniently located near the central road of this charming seaside village.
We invite passing villagers and holidaymakers to try archery for the first time on Tuesday mornings, gently encouraging them and persuading them that their preconceptions of "not being any good" or "that's something I can't do" are thoughts to be ignored, as, despite public opinion, archery is both a sport and a right of passage that is accessible to all.
Our club members love this opportunity to shoot midweek and share their passion with newcomers.
Saturday: The Main Event
Saturdays are our main shoot days, where archers gather for in-depth all-day practice sessions in preparation for field archery competitions throughout the year.
It's a fantastic way to hone your skills, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow archers, and experience the many benefits, both mental and physical, of this wonderful royal sport.
To learn more and get involved please come along to one of our have-a-go days.
Even if you think you're not ready, contact us, come along, and let us prove yourself otherwise. There's no such thing as not good enough in archery, just bad coaching.
