Tools and Talk is a space for men to come together, chat, do practical tasks, learn from each other, and just feel comfortable in a space that is just for them.

Tools and Talk: A Weekly Space for Men in Spalding

Tools and Talk is a weekly group held every Tuesday from 2:15 pm to around 4:30 pm at Project St Thomas on St Thomas Road, Spalding.

The group provides a safe and relaxed environment where men can come together, connect with others, and enjoy time set aside just for them.

Each week varies. Sometimes the group gets involved in practical tasks such as painting or simple hands‑on projects. Other times, the focus is simply on conversation and enjoying the calm, friendly atmosphere. As the group continues to grow, members will gradually begin supporting local residents by completing small jobs, making good use of skills that are often undervalued—especially as people get older.

The group remains small, welcoming, and always open to new members.

Thanks to UKSPF funding, there is no charge to attend, ensuring that financial circumstances never become a barrier. The group is also supported by the generous skills and involvement of Long Sutton Men’s Shed.

Anyone interested is encouraged to come along, enjoy a cake or a doughnut, meet the group, and find out what Tools and Talk is all about.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Gives you time with other men so you can just be yourself and enjoy male conversation
  • A place you can really show off your practical skills. And learn from others if you aren't so practical yourself
  • A welcoming space, and an opportunity to widen your social circle by meeting new people

I enjoy coming to the group each week. It makes a nice change to spend time just with other men
