Family Nature Zone holds weekly sessions on Hillside Garden for families in Lincoln, with a focus on children aged 1-7years. Providing children with the opportunity to enjoy nature, gardening and craft activities.

Family Nature Zone focuses on children between the ages of 1-7 but we are encouraging whole families to come along and join in, parents/guardians are required to attend. You are welcome to turn up on the day, all that is required is that you fill in a form to participate.

Sessions run every Wednesday on Hillside Garden from 4pm till 5:30pm during term times, during school holidays session will run earlier in the day from 13:00-14:30/15:00 depending on the day.

Please check our website or social media for more details.

During winter we run sessions inside of Green Synergy Community Hub, 49 Roman Pavement, Lincoln, LN2 5RD from 4pm till 5:30pm.

We run a range of activities that change every week, some weeks have themes but we try to include nature connectiveness (gardening, bug hunts), crafts and games every week.

Keep an eye for special events that happen during school holidays.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Firstly, we want to improve emotional wellbeing by connecting children with nature and green spaces. Through outdoor activities, exploration and play, children will have opportunities to enjoy being outdoors, develop curiosity, engage their senses and experience the wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature.

  • Secondly, we aim to build self-confidence. Activities will encourage communication, independence and positive self-esteem by helping children recognise their strengths, celebrate achievements, share their opinions and develop new skills in a supportive environment.

  • Thirdly, we want to help children develop positive relationships with their peers and trusted adults. Through structured activities, children will learn about sharing, taking turns, positive behaviour and effective communication. We also aim to support emotional regulation, strengthen social connections and help children enjoy positive experiences with others.

On Wednesdays when he wakes up he asks when he gets to see Garden, when I tell him after nursery he tries to tell me he doesn't need to go to nursery he should just go to the garden - Parent
