Last Updated: 29/08/2024

We carry out practical nature conservation work and volunteer opportunities to help manage Lincolnshire's nature reserves and other green spaces for wildlife and people.

Activities include tree planting, scything and hay raking, coppicing, footpath work and more.

The group has been active since 1994 is run entirely by volunteers. No experience is necessary but volunteers should be 16 or over.

Our focus is in and around Lincoln but we also work further afield in the county of Lincolnshire.

Recently all districts except Boston and South Holland but you can class us as 'county wide' if you prefer.

Regular sites are

  • Whisby Nature Park, Thorpe on the Hill, Lincoln
  • Ashing Lane Nature Reserve, Dunholme
  • Hartsholme Country Park, Lincoln

This is good for wellbeing because

  • We work outdoors in beautiful green spaces.

  • The work involves physical activity - but volunteers can work at their own pace.

  • Volunteering with us offers an opportunity to socialise and work as a team but equally to work alone if preferred.

Volunteering for LCG has helped me to meet like-minded people who are really friendly and I learn from them all endlessly.

I learn more about my local area, the environment within it and I get to help make a positive impact.

Volunteering also gives me the opportunity to further my practical skills within conservation. Being given the opportunity to lead tasks has massively improved my confidence. But above all, it's always a fun day spent outside!
