The Mablethorpe Sports Project offers sport and craft activities for young people between the ages of 11-18. All the activities are supported by fully trained staff.

This is good for wellbeing because

Participating in team sports has many physical health benefits and can significantly contribute to mental well-being.

  • Social Connection: Being part of a team help young people make and sustain friendships, create a sense of belonging and counteract feelings of isolation and loneliness. These friendships can help to build resilience and create supportive networks.
  • Stress Management: Team sports can be an effective way of managing stress. The focus needed during a game can divert attention from stressors so can be seen as a form of mindfulness. This along with the physical exertion team sports require can help to relieve tension and stress.
  • Skill Development: Involvement in team sports requires the development of new skills such as team work, communication and conflict resolution. All of these skills can be used in other aspects of a young persons life and can enhance self-esteem and confidence.
