The sessions provide a warm, friendly space for people to support their mental health through learning new skills and creating and recording podcasts that could later be used online.
Hosted at a local service (eg, Men’s Shed), warm space, or community Hub. The sessions would be led by a Music Facilitator and would be responsive to the needs of the participants. The sessions are aimed at 18+ adults and would seek to encourage a wide demographic of participants.
This is good for wellbeing because
- The sessions aim to bring a team of community volunteers together, creating and strengthening friendships, boosting mood, strengthening mental resilience, stimulating discussion and laughter, and positively impacting mental and emotional health. These will be delivered face-to-face in community venues appropriate for the size and locality of the group.
- It enables the creation of community radio by teaching new technical and software skills, building up confidence and bringing communities together and creating a sense of project ownership.
To stimulate interaction, networking and community cohesion. To boost emotional and mental
wellbeing and resilience by providing safe, inclusive sessions that allow participants the opportunity to share knowledge, face new challenges and grow in self-esteem.
- It builds and nurtures a committed online listenership, creating and strengthening community bonds, reducing feeling of isolation and loneliness and encouraging social interaction and involvement all of which impact on emotional well being.
Builds awareness of issues surrounding mental health and to create strong, connected communities where listeners are aware of local events, services and support.
