Stepping Stone Theatre for Mental Health – In Our Own Words

Back to Activities
Last Updated: 06/02/2024

Face-to-face and online creative writing to get the attendees to write and tell their own testimonial story of living with mental health issues and the difficulties managing it.

We support each other by always starting each session with a mental health check in and then we offer guidance and signposting if anyone is in need.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • We get people to open up about any issues which maybe upsetting or disturbing them, and to share by writing in an honest and open manner.
  • It is peer support at a grassroot level. The outcome of this is that the groups become friends out of the activity and therefore reducing loneliness and isolation.
  • Participants are encouraged to write and present their own work and we will all work together as to what goes in the booklets and the main book at the end of the three years. It is hoped that we will produce two booklets a year for at least three years and these booklets will become their own journey of mental health recovery to share with the wider community.
