The Community Growers CIC was formed in 2023 to respond to a need to support and enhance peoples lives within the local community.

The Community Growers aims to provide further education opportunities in an outdoor classroom environment, using the principles of fruit and vegetable growing as the basis for education. The company also provides support by the way of Therapeutic Horticulture, which is offered for members of the community who might be experiencing or have pre existing mental or physical health issues.

As a by product of these lessons and support, there will be an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables that can be used by service users and or dispersed into the wider community, for little or no cost to these people. Produce grown will be using ‘No Dig’ and Organic Principles - meaning food is ultra fresh, free from any chemicals and nutrient dense.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • It gets you out into nature and connect with it.
  • It helps you build meaningful connections with likeminded people in a safe and supportive environment.
  • It helps provide access to knowledge of how to grow your own food and improve access to fresh fruit and vegetables.

We have been sending children to classes at The Community Growers for the past 8 months. Feedback and engagement from the children has been overwhelming, and we have seen a number of children really thrive as a result of these lessons. We have been approached by a number of parents who have expressed an interest in sending their child to lessons
