We are a local community group that run free, regular activities and events at our outdoor social space, The Friendly Bench.

Based on Broadfield Lane, Boston, our events are open to all ages and abilities. We focus on activities that bring people together, are fun, help build connections and friendships, encourage everyone to share their skills, enable everyone to have an opportunity to connect with nature and feel a part of the community in which they live.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • It is a hub for connection, a place for people to meet, build friendships and have a sense of belonging.
  • Run by the community for the community, our activities and events help people of all ages and abilities strengthen their social network with the wider community - helping improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
  • It provides a convenient, accessible and comfortable place for people to connect with others and places, it encourages independence and opportunities to participate in the wider community, which is good for people's wellbeing.
  • It is a safe, accessible mini community garden with sensory planting which enables easy, accessible interactions with nature, wildlife and the outdoors.

I love coming to The Friendly Bench (Boston), meeting new people and taking part in the different things. So far I've helped plant wildflower seeds, been to their Jubilee party, joined in with a litter pick and took part in their Remembrance event. There is always something new happening and everyone is so friendly.
