This September, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, Kate Cooper will be taking on Yorkshire Three Peaks – to raise vital funds for Bro Pro UK.
The challenge will see Kate cover approximately 24 miles across the Yorkshire Dales, climbing the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
Kate, a Public Health Officer with Lincolnshire County Council, Kate has been instrumental in developing the Suicide Prevention strategy and toolkit across Lincolnshire and has seen first-hand the devastating impact suicide can have on individuals, families and communities. She also understands the importance of local organisations that provide support before people reach a crisis point.
Speaking about the challenge, Kate said:
"I've seen first-hand both the impact that suicide has on local families and the amazing work our local charities do with those affected. This challenge seemed the ideal way to go that extra mile to support those we work with.
"It'll be challenging, but it's for a great cause, and I'd love it if as many people as possible get behind this. You'll be helping to support vital work that makes a life-changing difference, while also helping to start conversations about suicide, which can save lives."
Why Kate Chose Bro Pro UK
Every donation raised through Kate's challenge will help Bro Pro UK continue providing free support to men across Lincolnshire.
Bro Pro UK is a registered men's mental health and wellbeing charity that creates safe, welcoming spaces where men can connect, talk openly and access support without fear of judgement. Their mission is to reduce isolation, improve mental wellbeing and encourage men to seek help before reaching crisis point.
Across Lincolnshire, BroPro run peer support groups, wellbeing activities, community events and outreach initiatives that help men build friendships, improve their wellbeing and realise they are not alone.
Alongside our weekly support groups, they work closely with NHS services, local authorities, charities, community organisations and businesses to improve access to mental health support and ensure people can access specialist help when they need it.
