My name is Jo Ireland, and I have had the pleasure of serving as the Spalding area Community Connector for just over a year now. I am proudly hosted by Tonic Health, a local Health & Wellbeing Charity, and I am based at the Wellbeing Hub there. This role has allowed me to immerse myself in the community, fostering connections and supporting various initiatives aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of our residents.
Before stepping into this role, I dedicated 15 years of my career to working as a Teaching Assistant in a large local Primary School. This experience was both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. I always knew that I would only leave this position if the right job opportunity came along, and indeed, it did! Transitioning to the role of Community Connector has been a fulfilling journey, offering me the chance to engage with a diverse range of individuals, community groups, and statutory services.
One of the aspects I love most about my current role is the diversity and new opportunities it brings. Every day is different, and I relish the chance to meet and work with a variety of people. Building up a very successful Partnership Network alongside Vanessa Collins, the SLR Community Connector, has been one of the highlights of my tenure. Our collaborative efforts have led to increased local joined-up working, which has been hugely beneficial to all involved. This network has not only strengthened community ties but also enhanced the delivery of services and support to those in need.
As I look ahead, I am filled with optimism and excitement. I am eager to continue building on the successes of the past year, exploring new initiatives, and further strengthening our community partnerships. The future holds many possibilities, and I am committed to making a positive impact in the Spalding area through my work at Tonic Health.
