Lincoln 5K Your Way - Move Against Cancer

Back to Support
Last Updated: 15/07/2024

5k Your Way is a support group with a difference. We are a community-based initiative to encourage those living with and beyond cancer, their families, friends, and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer at a local 5k Your Way.

5k Your Way joins the Lincoln parkrun event on the last Saturday of every month.

We have two groups in Lincolnshire; at Boultham Park, Lincoln and Witham Way Country Park, Boston. More information about how to join these groups can be obtained by emailing the race ambassadors at [email protected] and [email protected]
We will help you to find your way to Move Against Cancer.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • This activity provides people affected by cancer with the opportunity to get outdoors and participate in physical activity at their own pace. It enables them to meet with people who are experiencing similar issues and enables them to socialise and access peer support in a relaxed, safe and informal environment.

  • This activity is an excellent way for cancer patients to access supported physical activity and begin to rebuild stamina following diagnosis and treatment.
I felt very alone when I was diagnosed with Breast cancer. I had two young children and worked, but just felt very alone. I have found that talking to other people that have had cancer helps. I have found great comfort and made new friends whilst taking part in 5KYW. Walking, talking and laughing, not just about cancer but anything and everything. We've held hands in support of each other, tissues at the ready. I wish I'd done it sooner, it's the best medicine, it's only once a month and it's free!
My world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with cancer and it was very scary, especially as I had lost my sister to cancer 4 years previously. Once I'd finished my treatment and felt energetic enough I began attending the 5KYW walks and everyone was lovely, chatty and supportive. I don't make quite as many of the events as I'd like now I'm back at work, but still feel part of the group.
