We supply a transport alternative for socially isolated, vulnerable and elderly members of our community. Our volunteer drivers pick customers up from their homes, take them to where they need to get to, wait at no extra charge and return them home again safely.
We charge just 60p per mile, which starts and finishes at our volunteers house to cover their expenses. We have a minimum charge of £5.00 for a journey up to 9 miles in length. We also charge £12.00 per year membership per household. We travel anywhere in the country, but the customer needs to live in the Borough of Boston.
This is good for wellbeing because
- We assist people in leaving their homes and staying part of the community, whereas otherwise they may not be able to get out.
- We help people keep their appointments that they might not otherwise be able to go to.
- We help people maintain a level of independence, rather than having to rely on family members.
Without the service we cannot leave our homes as taxis are expensive and we cannot walk to a bus stop. The volunteers are brilliant, they are so helpful. They even walk around the shops with us if we need them to and push us to appointments at the hospital.
