A Pick Me Up (APMU) is a community project that focuses on strengthening community resilience and mental well-being. Feeling down is tough, but you are not alone and we're here to help you through it with a “pick me up”.
APMU offers safe space to discuss mental health issues and receive counselling, you can learn more about available services, and get involved in social events and clubs to build strong support systems that lasts. Mental wellness starts with us - let's make it matter!
This is good for wellbeing because
- The sessions will focus on the importance of mindfulness, meditation, dealing with stress and anxiety, importance of physical fitness and introduce coping mechanisms. It will invite mental health experts to deliver such presentations as well as representatives from local organisations to present their services.
- The objective of the weekly open door days is to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for community members to socialize, share their experiences, and connect with one another. The informal nature of these sessions will encourage participation from all members of the community, regardless of their background or level of engagement with the BLC. By facilitating these regular gatherings, the BLC aims to build a sense of community and foster meaningful relationships among its members.
- Raising awareness of available mental health recourses:
Translation of any relevant information from the above provided services, advertising of these resources, informational sessions. - Overcoming culturally ingrained stigma:
Launch of consultations with mental health experts available to the public, mental health importance awareness campaigns in Lithuanian language, establishment of safe space where community members are invited to share their experiences.
