Last Updated: 23/09/2026

Coastline Recovery in Grimsby is a volunteer-led, lived-experience recovery community that provides free, peer-based support for individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug use, homelessness, poor mental health, social isolation, and other life challenges.

Our aim is to create safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces where people can connect with others, build meaningful relationships, improve their wellbeing, and develop the confidence and skills needed to sustain long-term recovery.
Our activities take place throughout the year and include:
  • Weekly Community Drop-In Sessions, offering peer support, refreshments, recovery conversations, signposting, and social connection.
  • Recovery Walks, encouraging physical activity, wellbeing, and community engagement.
  • Recovery Garden sessions, where participants can enjoy gardening, mindfulness, and nature-based wellbeing activities.
  • Recovery cafés and social events that reduce isolation and promote positive lifestyles.
  • Educational workshops, guest speakers, and recovery awareness events.
  • Volunteering opportunities, allowing people to gain confidence, develop new skills, and give back to their community.
Most activities take place during evenings or weekends to maximise accessibility, with additional events scheduled throughout the year. Dates, times, and locations are promoted through our social media channels and partner organisations.

Cost:

All activities are provided free of charge thanks to volunteers, donations, and community partnerships.

Booking:

Booking is generally not required. People are welcome to simply turn up. For events where spaces are limited, such as training sessions or special workshops, advance booking may be requested.

What guests can expect:

Guests can expect a warm, friendly, and non-judgemental environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Whether someone is in recovery, supporting a loved one, or simply looking to improve their wellbeing, they will be welcomed by volunteers with lived experience who understand the challenges people may face.
There is no pressure to speak or participate. Individuals can engage at their own pace, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, meet new people, access information about local services, and become part of a supportive recovery community focused on hope, purpose, and belonging.
Our services are open to adults aged 18 and over, and we work alongside local organisations to ensure people receive the right support when additional specialist services are needed.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Reduces loneliness and builds social connection - Our peer-led activities provide a welcoming, supportive environment where people can make friends, share experiences, and feel part of a community. Building positive relationships helps reduce isolation and improves emotional wellbeing.
  • Improves mental and physical wellbeing - Activities such as Recovery Walks, gardening, and community events encourage people to be active, spend time outdoors, learn new skills, and practise mindfulness. These activities can help reduce stress, improve mood, and boost confidence.
  • Inspires hope, purpose, and personal growth - Through lived experience, peer support and volunteering opportunities, people are encouraged to build confidence, develop new skills, and recognise their strengths. This helps increase self-esteem and resilience, and supports long-term recovery and overall wellbeing.

I walked through the gates feeling alone and unsure if I belonged. Within minutes, I was welcomed like family. Coastline Recovery gave me hope, helped me believe in myself again, and reminded me that recovery doesn't have to be a journey you take on your own
