Darkside Rising CIC is a women’s health organisation based in Lincoln.

The Heart Strong Project will offer physical activity classes to x 16 women with a mental health diagnosis and co-occurring cardiovascular condition.

This is good for wellbeing because

Participants are co-producing an accessible and innovative training programme.

  • Increasing their confidence and resilience.
  • Creating a sense of agency when looking after their own health.
  • Improving motivation and attendance on the project.

Participants will improve their mental health and cardiovascular/physical health through.

  • Taking part in a programme of physical activity.
  • Engaging in additional mental health strategies such as mindfulness.

Participants will develop new social connections and provided peer support.

  • Improving their mental health and reducing loneliness/social isolation.
  • Creating opportunities for peer-led community support, outside of the project itself e.g. the group may begin walking together in their own time.
  • Creating opportunities for information sharing on topics such as self-care.
