Deeping St. Nicholas - Good Neighbour Scheme

Back to Support
Last Updated: 15/07/2024

The aims of the Good Neighbour Scheme are to assist residents of Deeping St Nicholas to live independently and enjoy a better quality of life by providing day to day assistance and services to those who may need occasional help.

To help create an environment where those residents feel safe and secure knowing that they have access to that support if they should need it.

Chatter Natter table runs at Vine House Farm cafe, PE11 3DG, on alternate Mondays, 10am-12pm.

Cuppa 'n' Cake (Friendship Club) runs at the Parish Church, PE11 3ET, on the last Wednesday of each month, 1pm-3pm.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • We run a Friendship Club and a Chatter Natter table, both aiming to increase inclusivity and reduce isolation by enabling people to meet with each other and with a volunteer who will aim to signpost them to a relevant source of help, whatever their needs.
  • We provide practical support such as help with shopping, prescription collection, lifts to hospital and doctors' appointments, dog walking and sitting, and other occasional needs.
  • We foster a sense of inclusivity and community pride by providing an outlet where people can volunteer to help within their village, no matter how much or how little time they can spare, or whetever skills they have to offer - all help is valuable and valued.

Taking on this role has given me new lease of life - I spent a lot of time bored and frustrated, but now I have a sense of purpose and something I can get stuck into that is of real help to others, and of doing something worthwhile
