Grantham Chemosabes

Back to Support
Last Updated: 15/07/2024

Chemosabes reaches out and offers support to anyone affected by any type of cancer, whether dealing with a diagnosis, waiting for tests, currently in remission or a passenger sharing a loved one's journey.

The Facebook forum allows members to seek advice, guidance and share experiences. Meet-and-greet gatherings are held throughout the year for all members of the Group with medical professionals, holistic practitioners and qualified supporters in attendance.

You can find more information about cancer services and support in Lincolnshire on the Connect to Support website here.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Chemosabes offers advice and guidance for anyone going through a cancer diagnosis, receiving treatment or dealing with the effects of chemotherapy. This open invitation to ask questions and share concerns helps to relieve anxiety, stress, fear and sheer confusion, knowing that there are others on the same journey who can relate to your emotions and help in dealing with them
  • Those going through the trials of cancer and its treatment are reminded that they're not alone in their fight and can seek support at any time.
  • There is a palpable relief and quietening of fears and anxieties, knowing that there is help with the little things that suddenly become the big things. Chemosabes have found dog-walkers when chemotherapy has drained the energy levels. We have sent parcels of goodies to provide a little lift to those with low moods due to their diagnosis. We have sent explanatory books to children whose parents are receiving treatment to alleviate their fears, and we try to provide days out or tickets to events to allow a refocus back to the important things.

"This Group is great, thank you for inviting me. It's comforting to be in touch with many people who are going through what I'm about to face and to know that help is out there. Not all cancer is pink and it's good to know that that others with different cancers are not forgotten"
