Community Wellbeing Hub provide grass roots level mental health support. Hubs are led by Community Connectors who provide free, confidential support and advice and signpost you to other services in the local area.
The Holbeach Hub is a centre for all members of the community to come and engage in the internal and external groups held here. There is a real focus on youth engagement, with two groups designated for young people.
The Hub also offers the opportunity to use the sports hall for health and wellbeing.
Hubs are a great place to visit if you are experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges, want to take up a new hobby or activity, or reduce loneliness and isolation.
The Community Wellbeing-Drop, Tuesdays to Fridays 10am - 3pm: Friendly welcoming staff, free refreshments, board games, crafts, pool, darts, digital den with xbox VR fibre WIFI . A community garden space to enjoy , sports hall with a range of opportunities such as archery, badminton, basket ball, etc. Throughout the winter programme there will be a range of funded projects such as adult cooking sessions, crafting sessions to support maths skills. Professionals often on hand such as social prescribers, community connector (connector drop in day on a Tuesday for advice and signposting). Soldas, mental health professionals use the building regularly.
Wednesdays and Fridays 10 - 2pm: There is a warm welcome to send adults to enjoy crafts, singing, board games , pool, garden project and much more. These sessions are free and inclusive.
Bro Pro, Thursday 6pm - 8pm: a friendly welcoming group for men to have a safe space to enjoy, chat , listen and make friends. There is the use of the hub, sports hall and garden, there have been barbecue sessions, friendships have developed .
The Wheels for Life Bike Project: The project runs from the hub, a qualified bike mechanic and a team of trained volunteers maintain donated bikes that are given to members of the public. Referrals for bikes can be made through community connectors , social prescribers and other professionals. This is a good project to join in and gain skills.
Primary Youth Club, Tuesdays 4pm - 6pm (£2 entry): The primary youth club runs throughout the year (including school holidays) for 7 - 11 year olds. There is a £2 entry, tuck shop on site. An inclusive space , using the sports hall, digital den, main hub with crafts , games and fun. Qualified youth staff.
The Secondary Youth Club, Friday 5pm - 7pm (£2 entry): The secondary youth club runs throughout the year (including school holidays) for 12 - 16 year olds. There is a £2 entry, tuck shop on site. An inclusive space, using sports hall, digital den, main hub for table tennis, board games, fun and friendship. Qualified youth staff.
The Blind Society, Friday 10am - 12pm: Hosted in the Cristine Carter Room, they are a welcoming group for those with sight and sensory issues alongside family members, this is a space for information, guidance, booked speakers , socialisation. They also invite others in the hub to barbecues in the garden.
This is good for wellbeing because
- It offers a place to talk with others. The wellbeing hub is a safe inclusive space that assists in developing friendships, individuals have started to become a community. Some say a family.
- It gives the community a chance to get healthy. The varied groups give opportunities to the community to find their space.
- Gives the community a place that can be a beacon of support.
