Providing alternative two-wheeled transport to individuals with a transport barrier, enabling them to secure employment, training or education provisions.
Kickstart Wheels2Work is a registered charity and not-for-profit organisation.
As the largest and only fully sustainable Wheels2Work provider in the UK, we partner and work with various public sector and local professional organisations to offer an effective, often vital, alternative transport solution to individuals facing transport barriers.
Our area of operation covers Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Rutland, and South Lincolnshire.
Kickstart Wheels2Work’s primary service involves the rental of mopeds, which is particularly beneficial for those in low-paid work, unemployed individuals transitioning into employment, those seeking access to education and training, and others who may be at risk of social exclusion due to the lack of transport.
To keep costs to a minimum, Kickstart Wheels2Work actively seek and secure funding to provide where possible, free safety equipment & clothing, Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) and reduced hire fees.
There is a cost but some resources/activities are free.
This is good for wellbeing because
- Mental Well-being Riding a moped can be a fun and enjoyable experience, providing a sense of freedom and adventure. This enjoyment can help reduce stress and improve mental health. Riding a moped allows riders to be outdoors, which can improve mood and increase vitamin D levels through sun exposure. Learning to ride and mastering moped operation can provide a sense of accomplishment and boost self-confidence.
- Social Benefits Moped schemes can foster a sense of community and reduce isolation and a feeling of vulnerability. While the physical activity level of riding a moped is not as high as other forms of transportation like cycling, it still offers benefits that can contribute positively to one's health and well-being.
- For those who may have mobility issues, mopeds offer an alternative to traditional transportation methods, promoting independence and reducing the stress associated with long commutes or traveling via public transport.
Public transport has been cut and I am unable to get about, including to my appointments, it’s terrible.
Kickstart Wheels2Work have provided me with a 50cc moped and I now have independence to visit my friends and family, being mobile is helping me address my personal issues.
I hope in the future to get back into work and will definitely keep my moped.
