Night Light Cafés are safe spaces, for anyone aged 18 and over, that offer an out-of-hours, non-clinical support service and are staffed by teams of trained volunteers who are available to listen.
They can also provide signposting advice and information on other organisations that may be able to help with specific needs, such as debt advice or emergency food parcels.
Café environments have been created in church buildings and existing cafes to provide a place of safety where guests are welcomed and cared for.
St Giles Methodist Church Night Light Cafe runs every Tuesday, 4pm to 8pm (may vary on bank holidays).
You can simply pop along to your local Night Light Café and there will be a volunteer there who will welcome you.
People can call 0300 011 1200
Agencies and GPs can refer individuals with their consent by completing the appropriate online referral form here.
This is good for wellbeing because
- It provides social connection.
- We are here to listen.
- It offers safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment.
Nightlight Café has genuinely saved my life and I don’t think I would be here today without the support of Night Light. The volunteers were empathetic and helpful, always listened, and able to talk to me about how I could keep myself safe and ways to cope with my thoughts.
