Here's what's coming up...
24th July - Women in Wellies Go Batty!
Join us for a magical summer evening exploring the nocturnal world of bats at the beautiful Rauceby Hall estate.
We’ll begin the evening with refreshments and a friendly catch-up in the Hall. As part of our continuing support for health and wellbeing, Nurse Rach will be on hand to offer private health checks in a quiet room at the venue.
Once the sun begins to set, we’ll head into the parkland for a guided walk around the lake, where we’ll be using bat detectors to listen for Daubenton’s bats over the water and, if we’re lucky, pipistrelles and noctules in the surrounding trees and open spaces. Helen Scarborough from the local bat group will be leading the walk and sharing her expertise – she’ll even be setting up a thermal camera overlooking the lake for an extra-special view of these amazing creatures in action. 13th August - River dipping in the river Bain 11.00-1.00 River Bain, Horncastle
Whether you come alone or bring the kids, this event is perfect for everyone. River dipping is a fascinating activity that allows you to explore the rich aquatic life in rivers. It involves wading into shallow parts of a river and using nets or other tools to catch and observe various aquatic creatures, such as fish and macroinvertebrates.
Looking for macroinvertebrates, like mayfly nymphs, caddisfly larvae, and stonefly nymphs, is a great way to monitor water quality. These creatures are sensitive to pollution and changes in their environment, making them excellent indicators of river health. By observing the presence and abundance of these species, we can assess water quality and detect any potential issues.
It’s a fun, hands-on activity and an opportunity to learn about the ecosystem and the species that call the river home. Click here to book
5th September - Stretch and Strengthen with Olivia Brown - Upper body focus
