Martin Village Hall Hub

Back to Support
Last Updated: 15/07/2024

Originally set up as a warm space, warm food, warm welcome, one of the group's main benefits is the part which it plays in combatting isolation and loneliness for people of all ages.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Through mixing with others and chatting to the volunteers it encourages positivity.
  • It allows the community a warm and secure space within easy walking distance of people who live in the village and a warm welcome from the volunteers who run it as well as hot drinks and food.
  • It helps combat isolation and loneliness and provides something to look forward to each week.

The village has come alive since the Wednesday Hub started earlier this year. I've been able to meet many of the community whom who I haven't met for years and it also allows me to meet and chat to new people to. I really look forward to it.

As well as people living on their own it also helps support elderly couples who otherwise may not get out to mix with friends and neighbours. It offers a regular chair exercise session and is hoping to arrange occasional coach trips.
