Parents And Autistic Children Together (PAACT)

Back to Support
Last Updated: 15/07/2024

Parents and Autistic Children Together (PAACT) provides whole family support through training programmes, conferences, workshops, activities and support group meetings.

Since then, PAACT became more than a sign posting group and can help parents understand:

  • Diagnosis process
  • After diagnosis
  • Understanding meltdowns / shutdowns
  • Understanding entitlement to support
  • Advocacy

The emphasis is around the whole family and what is needed. We provide training programmes, conferences, workshops, activities, and support group meetings.

We also have a parent-led closed Facebook page where the advice you get is from other parents who have or are in a similar situation to you and is a great form of support.

Also on Facebook is the PAACT professional group where professionals can support each other and get to know what PAACT have going on so they can pass information over to their families they are supporting.

What to expect

Support Meetings (Coffee and Chat) are held monthly. These are held at the Lincoln office on the first Monday of the month at 19:00-21:00 hours. Day time meetings are the third Mondy of the month from 10:00 - 12:00 noon. All are welcome.

Swimming is held on the third Saturday every month at Wragby Swimming Pool from 2.45-3.45pm.

These activities are very helpful for getting used to socialising with an array of ages and personalities. The chance to feel belonging and build self-confidence and self-worth.

There is a cost to attend, however there are some free resources.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • ASDAN - PAACT is an ASDAN registered centre helping children and young adults gain life skills through learning.
  • PAACT also provides guidance with completing forms and 1:1 support as required.

Right from the first meeting I felt a sense of support for myself and my daughter. I regularly attended meetings before lock down and via zoom after that. I feel the support we have is invaluable I have attended courses and conferences to deepen my knowledge of the autistic spectrum and how I can support my daughter and children in my professional role as I work in a primary school.

We have attended so many lovely events which myself and my children love as everyone is so friendly. We understand how tricky it can be at times to bring up a child with additional needs to get them the best support possible which at times is extremely challenging.

When your child is diagnosed you are given no support I myself have been supported by PAACT to fill in forms and going through mediation and court to get my daughter in a school where she is now getting the appropriate support. As a mother I also feel I’m supported by other members and hope I can do the same for them we really are a lovely community to be part of.
