SSJBC Community Hub is a comfortable coffee bar style space that is open every weekday and at least one Saturday a month, operating on donations so that there is always somewhere for people to come and meet their friends or make new ones - regardless of income.

Our daily Renew SSJ (weekdays 10am - 12 noon) provides a place where you can enjoy a cuppa and a chat, play a board game or do some colouring - or just sit and read your newspaper. We also have a space for prayer and reflection where you can light a candle or just sit and "be".

Different optional activities take place whilst Renew SSJ is open:

  • Mondays: 11am - 11.45am Chair Exercise Class with Jake £3.50 per session payable to Jake
  • Tuesdays: French with Jo [email protected] 1:1 Digital Skills on First Tuesday of each month.
  • Wednesdays: Crafting with Claire - all abilities welcome.
  • Thursdays: Long COVID Peer Support Group (not the last Thursday of the month as Community Lunch)
  • Fridays: Knitting and crochet group- beginners welcome.

Once a month on a Saturday at 8.30am SSJBC holds a Men's Breakfast for men of any age. We operate on a donations basis so as not to exclude anyone.

Our Monthly Community Lunch at midday on the last Thursday of the month is the one activity where we make a nominal charge of £8 for a 3-course lunch - booking for this event is essential by the Monday before the lunch.

Please note: We are closed on Bank Holidays

This is good for wellbeing because

  • The hub provides a great place for those who may be feeling isolated, lonely or depressed to come and be part of the SSJBC family.
  • The Chair Exercise Group is good for wellbeing as it enables those with limited mobility to limber up safely in a friendly supportive environment - all with a cuppa!
  • The Men's Breakfast is good for wellbeing as it provides a safe place for men of any age to meet and chat and to serve each other a full English Breakfast!

A fabulous community resource which we use several times a week - a great sociable space & so valuable for wellbeing.
