St Barnabas Bereavement Groups offer a safe, compassionate space to share your grief and connect with others who understand—you don’t have to face loss alone.

St Barnabas Bereavement Groups are FREE, friendly, face-to-face gatherings that support adults (18+) who are experiencing grief.

They’re safe, supportive spaces, facilitated by trained counsellors where you can:

  • Connect with others who have experienced loss and understand what you’re going through
  • Talk, listen, and share stories in a compassionate, non-judgmental setting
  • Find comfort through shared experiences and supportive conversation
  • Be welcomed without an appointment — come along and access support when you feel ready.

These groups are open to anyone registered with a Lincolnshire GP and grieving the death of an adult — you don’t have to have had any prior contact with the hospice.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • A safe space to express feelings: Talking (or simply listening) in a compassionate environment can ease emotional pressure and support healthy grieving.
  • You’re not alone: Being with others who understand grief can reduce isolation and help you feel seen, heard, and supported.
  • Gentle support for mind and body: Sharing experiences and receiving understanding can help lower stress, improve emotional resilience, and support overall wellbeing.

I have accessed individual counselling for my grief which was helpful, but coming to the bereavement group and being with others that are experiencing grief has helped me feel that I am not alone.
