Surviving by Storytelling is a creative writing project, offering free workshops to carers in Lincolnshire.

With guidance from Writer and Assistant Professor of Mental Health, Dr Mark Pearson from the University of Nottingham, and Dr Helen Foster, Research Associate from the University of Leicester, the workshops encourage participants to explore their mental health, emotions, and thoughts, and express themselves in a safe and inclusive environment.

Surviving by Storytelling is funded by Shine Lincolnshire and hosted by Writing East Midlands.

Places are FREE, but registration is necessary.

Session are online, and you can sign up and read more here: https://writingeastmidlands.co.uk/projects/surviving-by-storytelling/

This is good for wellbeing because

  • The workshops encourage you to explore your mental health, emotions, and thoughts through creative writing. This allows you space to talk about things you may otherwise find difficult.
  • The sessions help build a community of like-minded people who have similar experiences to yourself, alleviating a sense of loneliness and building a sense of resilience.
  • These fun, exploratory sessions are tailored to fit around you, therefore if there are any subjects or topics you would like to explore, we can work to meet these, ensuring that you get the most out of the workshops.

It's been great, thanks so much! It's been amazing how some of these writing exercises have revealed stuff to me about myself that I hadn't really realised (or put shape to before), or have helped me think about things in a different way.
