The 30 Day Stamford Alcohol Experiment

Back to Support
Last Updated: 29/07/2024

We arrange weekly in person sessions that last for 1 calendar month supporting people to take a break from alcohol. The sessions run for Dry January & Sober October and another session in the summer months.

The approach is not a traditional AA approach. The methodology works on our beliefs around alcohol and WHY we drink allowing us to approach triggers and cravings scientifically minded the same as an experiment.

The Experiment is delivered by a short daily video for 30 days either via a link in a Facebook group, a free downloadable app or to the participants email (with permission from the participant).

The participants then meet at Mindspace Stamford once a week with the coach to discuss how the week has gone.

This is not a programme for those who feel they are physically dependent on alcohol, however, if they are under the supervision of their GP or other health professional this programme would be a great addition to help change their drinking habits.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Shared Experiences: Sharing experiences with others who are on the same journey can be comforting and reassuring. It helps to know that you're not alone in facing the difficulties associated with quitting drinking.
  • Healthy Coping Mechanisms: In group settings, individuals can learn and share healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with stress, anxiety, and other triggers that may have previously led to drinking.
  • Accountability: Being part of a group of individuals with a common goal can provide accountability. It can motivate you to stick to your commitment to take a break from your drinking & experience the benefits of being alcohol free for a month.

This programme has been a gamechanger for me. I'm not a heavy drinker, more an autopilot drinker, it has given me a big mindset shift around drinking. It has allowed me to see that it really is OK not to drink

It was a relief to have someone to speak freely with, and her advice and support was invaluable, as was her sharing advice on how to handle various scenarios
