The church is a shared community space. As well as worship, the church hosts many social activities and groups where everyone is welcome.

Group and activities at Zion include:

  • Coffee morning every Thursday - designated 'Warm Space'
  • 'Come and Meet' every Friday afternoon - designated 'Warm Space'
  • 'Meet and Eat' lunches once a month
  • Badminton (Monday evenings)
  • Short mat bowls (Wednesday evenings)
  • 'Coffee and Craft' (Monday mornings)
  • 'Alpha' course starting in January
  • Many other 'one-off' events - fayres, holiday events for children, and also for older folk
  • Uniformed organisations - scouts, guides etc use the building
  • Other organisations also use the building eg Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers; Zumba Group, 'Walking for Health' Group.

This is good for wellbeing because

  • Bringing people together for conversation, fellowship and mental stimulation is good for morale and helps to keep depression and anxiety at bay.
  • Activities involving physical exercise support physical health.
  • Giving people to chance to serve others is also good for a sense of purpose and mental wellbeing.
